Holy geez. Last time I brought out a CI was right around this time of year, but in 2011. But it's not primarily my blog, so I'm not the bloody slacker around here.
WingTackLE (not to be confused with WingTackER, the W name I used LAST TIME ON RHYMES WITH IDIOT) is still slacking off, clearly. Not so understandable this time around, even though she's still doing the same damn things I naffed off about last time; scrawling less-than-furiously in notebooks, keeping me awake as she screws around on the Pokémon GTS looking for trades--the current X and Y games, naturally, and commiserating with anyone who'll listed about the latest news coming out of the Brewers organization (Corey Hart has interest from three teams besides the Crew but nothing will come of it until he's given a clean bill of health after sitting out the entire 2012 season). Again. The seeming usual.
Black Friday is UPCOMING, and WingTackle is not put out about the shifts she's working this year beyond having to work Thanksgiving Day at all. It means, unfortunately, another twinday of narcissitic shitheads giving her grief because they're not being served immediately--fuck those customers ahead of them, right?--and the fake-ass simpering dicks pretending commiseration that anyone at all has to work on such a family-oriented time of the year while simultaneously passing the plastic to her and shushing the three knee-high irritations who are all clamoring (and oh, YES, sometimes CURSING) for three different toys.
I see no reason to go out, either day, beyond giving her an escape during lunch and leaving a generous tip for whoever might serve us at whichever establishment we frequent. Mental health via Applebee's or somesuch. Yeah, it works.
She's quite better about the whole shooting thing, as you might imagine. The idiotic jokes from oh-so-'clever' people have trickled away to nearly nothing. Few jump at loud noises anymore. The shooter is a complete fruitbat. You can read up on this nutbar if you like, but you won't do it here, at least not by my hand.
Been keeping busy myself, when time allows. Usual crap, mostly. Been running, for a good year, an alliance on one of the mobile card games, MARVEL: WAR OF HEROES; our alliance's very simple blogsite is here, if you give a flying damn and/or play. Small community of players who've grown to be friends, I think.

Dear PeTA,
Do me a huge favor and piss off. Seriously.
You are the same organization that unapologetically kills more animals than you save, so you have no room to throw stones. This is nothing more than a publicity stunt and anyone with a functional brain will figure that out.
Don't get me wrong: I adore animals and I have a cat but this is pathetic, even by your standards. It's bad enough that you went after Mario because of the Tanooki suit but this is beyond the pale. Pokémon? Seriously?! And you guys weren't expecting to be laughed out of the room for your idiocy?! Not only that just how many animals died, waiting for help that never came because you threw so much behind creating this moronic wad of BS?!
Oh well, I'm just going to sit and wait for your insane take on the Angry Birds franchise, because we all know that's coming. If anyone does crazy well, it's you guys. Until then, go dissipate like the small gust of flatulence in the breeze that you truly are.
Yours truly,
Weasel

Sunday Morning Surprise
Or:
Rescuing the Rescuer
Rescuing the Rescuer
Late Saturday night I spotted it, a level 12 Japanese Golett with a nickname. How did I know the little guy had a nickname? The characters were radically different than that of a normal, un-named Golett's species name. A level 12, nicknamed, no hold item but the Trainer wanted a Landorus in exchange for this Golett.
Under normal circumstances, I might have let that go. But two things were picking at me: the fact that it was nicknamed and the fact that it was at level 12.
Now, I know what you're thinking--what the heck does level have to do with anything? The lowest level you can find one of these little guys is 1, if they've been bred. But you can also spot them at level 10, if they happen to come from the Dream World. Because of this, I decided to take the risk; I'd try and make the trade and perhaps I'd get another Dream Worlder.
Since I had no Landorus of my own, I offered up a Kyurem, hoping that someone would take some pity on me and surrender a Landorus that I could use. A couple of hours passed. Nothing. I couldn't wait all night so I went to bed, hoping that I'd get my answer in the morning.
Early Sunday morning, I awoke and after rolling over several times, I managed to doze off again. I'll refer to that as mistake number one.
Don't ask me why but my mind decided to play tricks on me. I ended up trapped in a horrible nightmare; one that involved myself along with a group of others, trapped in a room and trying to disarm a bomb. We weren't having any luck with it, either.
I knew I was dreaming. I knew that what I was experiencing wasn't real and several times, I woke myself up in order to stare at the ceiling and dismiss that awful dream. But each and every time I went back to sleep, I was back among that group of people, a warning claxon screaming in my ears and a timer slowly ticking down to zero as I frantically tried snipping wires to a large and armed bomb, knowing that the effort was fruitless. No matter how many times I brought myself out of that dream, my mind simply restarted the whole process. Again, I awoke and again, I stared at the ceiling, shaking.
"CHECK YOUR TRADE!"
That voice in the back of my mind started shouting loudly. I shook my head, refusing to doze off again. I grabbed my DS, turned it on and hit the GTS. Not a moment later, I saw a Poke Ball drop from the sky.
I had finally gotten the Landorus. Now I just needed to find the Golett.
The Golett was still there. I traded immediately and when it landed in my party, I took a look at it.
'Twas a Dream Worlder all right, but the Trainer decided to reteach the little guy Astonish and let him forget his Elemental Punch. No big deal; I'll grab some shards on Black 2 and give him ThunderPunch when I trade him over, I think. No harm, no foul. But it was his nickname that caused me to scratch my head: どぐう. "Wonder what that means," I managed to mumble as I dozed off again, my game saved and my DS powered off.
Thanks to Prime, I found out that his name is Dogū. According to Wikipedia, it's a term for a humanoid figurine made of clay. Given that Golett is a golem made of clay, it fits the little guy perfectly. But in all honestly, I can't help but think it means "savior".
Puzzling over the meaning of that hirgana so early in the morning was enough to break the nightmare's hold over me; when I went back to sleep, I was greeted with a peaceful darkness. No more howling alarms, no shouting group of terrified people, no bomb, no locked down room, nothing. Just peace. Checking that trade, getting that Golett and finding myself fascinated over his name was enough to end the dream. In other words, I owe a few hours of good sleep to a small grouping of pixels.
You wouldn't believe how grateful I am for that, as silly as it seems.

Upgrade Time
So it finally happened: Prime got me a 3DS.
It was something that needed to happen; one of my silver DS fats has shoulder button issues, while the other DS fat has a broken hinge. They both work, but it's pretty obvious that they're both about ready to go. So now I'm the proud owner of an Aqua Blue 3DS.
It's a beauty. I've already tooled about with it and I really like it; I've also got quite a few titles saved to my wishlist. Now if only I can hold out until October 7 and get my hands on Black 2, life will officially not suck.
--Weasel, still wondering if she should take the 7th off to play her game, or go into work because she's the only one who knows anything about Pokemon...

BLOG POST OF ULTIMATE BOASTING!
(Don't worry: the title is a joke. Even though what happened on Thursday was pretty slagging epic.)
Thursday morning I head into work about a half an hour early--Prime had to go in early, which meant I had extra time to spend in the breakroom. So what do I do in my spare time? The same thing I do every time I stuck in the breakroom--I start hatching Golett eggs. Since I'm hovering at 2,780 hatched, I decide to do a run of twenty and call it for a day. That'll even everything out to 2,800 until I pick up the game again. Besides, I think, if I do a shorter run I'll have time to go through and do some EV training via the Elite Four. So I gather my eggs and begin the process of hatching.
It takes a bit, but it's nearly 10:15 and I've hatched 19 out of twenty. So when I hear the shell cracking on number twenty, I grab my pen and scribble down a few numbers in my memo book. I'm not really paying attention to the game; the sounds of the Golett's cry and the fanfare that plays afterwards barely catches my attention. I'm too busy writing down my brand new hatch total: 2,800. Once I'm done, I turn to my DS and take a look at the brand new hatching. What I see causes my jaw to drop in shock.
Eyes: yellowish-green, not light yellow. Body: grey and black, not two differing shades of blue. This Golett is oddly colored.
A shiny. I finally hatched my shiny. So much for taking the Elite Four challenge that morning.
I managed to tap out the chosen name for my brand new shiny--Guardian--then promptly hit save. Once my game is saved, I take a look at Guardian's stats. I'm quite pleased at what I see.
Nature: Brave
Ability: Iron Fist
I couldn't have asked for a better shiny, really. The little guy is perfect. Or at the very least, he is to me. So after four months and 2,800 eggs, I've finally gotten my "baby", if you will.
I'm taking a slight break from the hunt right now. I've been hatching eggs for so long that yeah, I need the time off. But I have a Japanese Sawk and an Adamant Natured Japanese Ditto in Day Care; I'll be starting the hunt for a shiny Sawk in May. The rest of April will simply be too busy for me, with BotCon and all. But once the 'con is done, I'll start hatching more eggs. Why? A shiny hunter's job is never done--there's always another shiny Pokémon to hunt, either by resetting or breeding. Yes, I'm insane, I know. Wish me luck anyway.

Color Me Excited
Current song stuck in my head: Praise You by Fatboy Slim
I am one excited Weasel. Very excited. Excited like you wouldn't believe. Why? Because of this: Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2. And according to Serebii.net, they'll be hitting the US in autumn of this year.
*insert girlish giggle*
The forums are going nuts and the speculation is amazing. Me, I'm trying not to giggle and squeal too much. Two new games means extra box room for me! I'm a GTS addict, if you will. Put up some poor, pathetic, lonely little Golett and I'll probably trade you. Well, within reason, of course.
Now all I need to do is get my shiny Golett, catch Kyurem and prep my shinies for the trip to the next game. (I have 66 of them. They are all Automatons. Oh yeah, every one is either a Golett or a Golurk! They're cute, they're adorable and I'll take them in a heartbeat.) And then I have to get Riser ready...
For those of you who don't know, Riser is my level 100 Golurk. "He" is the first Pokémon that I ever EV trained and I'll send him to every future Pokémon game. The big guy earned his nickname because he rose through the ranks and became the team leader--he got the win for me when I needed it most. I put him through a lot and he always came through. For a bunch of pixels, he's pretty spoiled.
This will probably be the first time in a very long time that I can say I'm looking forward to fall. Who would have thought?

Son of the Return of the Revenge of the Dark of the Random Thoughts
Been a while since I've done one of these guys; I may be a little rusty so bear with me.
Current song stuck in my head: In Between by Linkin Park
* The holidays are over. No more crowds. Now all we have to worry about is the Super Bowl. If Green Bay makes it, my store will be a ghost town.
* So the locale for BotCon 2012 was announced and we're going back to Texas. I can hear Prime booing and hissing in the background as I type this, but I seriously wanted to go back to California. It's nice there. Ah well, maybe next year.
* I'm still trying to Masuda Method myself a shiny Golett and I am failing massively. I've hatched 725 eggs and haven't seen my little Guardian. Yes, I have the name picked out for "him"; do not ask. Before you ask just what I'm doing with all the hatchlings, uh... I kinda don't keep them. I turn off the power so I'm not forced to release any of them. Yes, I'm a total wuss but I refuse to abandon something so cute! (I can't help it; the the little bugger is adorable.) Even worse? I'll have to restart the whole process again as I want a shiny Golurk and Guardian will not be evolving. Oh no, I'm completely not insane over here...
* We've had a grand total of maybe an inch and a half of snow this season. Either we're not going to get a whole lot, or we're going to get slammed with three blizzards in a freaking row in the middle of February. But no, no real white Christmas over here. Not awesome.
* On the 29th, Prime and I will be heading to Brewers on Deck. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. (Autographs and players and swag and all things baseball!)
* I have an extra day off this week. Seems the home office said we couldn't go over forty hours and our holiday pay counted as part of our scheduled time so I got myself a third day off. Not complaining about it, believe me.
* Prime, being the awesome wonderful guy he is, got me Bubble Power™ She-Ra® and Swiftwind™ for Christmas. I haven't squealed so much in a very long time. (The eight-year-old in me was very happy, trust me.)
* We have a Ninja blender in our kitchen now. So we can make smoothies and milkshakes and mixed drinks galore. Now I need to figure out just how to make a Mocha Frap like Starbucks and life will be officially awesome.
And that's about it. Tune in next time when I decide to root around the wrinkles of my brain stem and slap together more random crap like this. Until then, this has been...

Prime's Going to Kill Me...
...but I don't care.
Um, I need this like I need oxygen. Seriously, the awesome overwhelms. That Golurk, oh that Golurk... it's gorgeous! I must have it. :swoon:
Like I said, Prime's going to kill me. Why? Because I'll beg and plead until I get my hands on that bit of epicness. Oh well, sucks to be him, I guess.
--Weasel, "I told you Golurk was epic."

Halloween Doesn't Get Any Stranger
It's Halloween and I'm covering a break on the self check-outs. It's nothing I haven't done before, only this afternoon I'm dealing with a huge migraine headache and we are busy.
It also doesn't help that one of the self checks is shut down and not working, which is putting a massive strain on the other three. It goes without saying that I'm running around like I'm crazy, trying to keep up with everything.
I wasn't doing such a great job, either. But I digress.
As I'm standing near the pay station, I see cashier Sean rushing towards me. He's wearing his coat and he looks upset. Very upset. He then proceeds to tell me as he breezes by that I will never see him again. He's just been fired.
Yeah, I can't say a whole lot as he stalks by. I'm too shocked to say anything other than "What?!"
Not five minutes later, management is by the doors. They're all talking and watching the doors as if they expect Sean to come back, but I know he won't. If I were in that same position, I know full well I wouldn't walk back into the building. I wouldn't be able to handle it.
Sean's wife came in about an hour and a half later to get his things; she wasn't happy and I couldn't really blame her. She was supposedly mouthing off about management, but I honestly don't know if that's even true.
With Sean, this had been a long time coming. He often couldn't keep his mouth shut and said a lot of inappropriate things in front of customers and associates alike. But it's still a shock. I'm still frankly rather stunned it happened.
The rest of the day went by pretty quickly; there weren't any other odd happenings or weirdness of any sort afterwards. My migraine had also cleared up by lunchtime so I was actually feeling better. But man, what a weird Halloween.
In other news, Nintendo Wi-Fi is not working for me. I can't get onto GTS, which is frustrating. There might be a shiny Golett or shiny Golurk who needs a home and I can't get to it. (frustrated grumble) It doesn't help that I'm waiting on a blasted trade over here...

COMMUNICATIONS INTERRUPT: DUEL SHOCK
I swear, I didn't misspell 'dual'. That 'e' is LEGIT, yo.
Broke down--or more accurately, proclaimed, "SCREW THESE STUPID SHOULDER BUTTONS THAT DON'T WORK ANYMORE"--and bought a Nintendo 3DS. Much as I've enjoyed both DSlites I've owned, the shoulder L & R buttons are pretty much the first thing to go on the 'lite' model. The silver version I bought Black Friday before last didn't even make it a year before the L started on its path to becoming grievously useless. The R wasn't far behind, and lemme tell ya, for me, it is not a grand and glorious experience playing MLB2Kwhatever when I can neither make a basestealing attempt when I wish nor can I make the runners get back to base when I need.
Wingstun, naturally, enjoys getting hold of it to make use of the Pokédex 3D app (by which I mean, she'll peruse the other listings I've so far garnered before going back to coo over those effing mudbots which continue to cost me currency and sanity DAMN IT ALL COULDN'T YOU HAVE SIMPLY STAYED A BUMBLEBEE FAN I COULD LIVE WITH THAT PRIMUS KNOWS I HAVE DONE SO FOR OVER A DECADE bleeeahhgk...better, now. Me...I use everything else. Bought a few games so far off the eShop, screw around with the camera and get onto the internet wherever I can find a free wifi hotspot.
Fun. The camera and internet access have already come in handy--I can tweet from a ballgame using a stylus much more quickly than using iTap on a phone BECAUSE I AM JUST SO SLAGGIN' AWESOME SHUT UP BABY I KNOW IT and can even snap a few 3D photos of the action--both of which I did Thursday night at the Timber Rattlers ballgame. Game started off as a pitcher's duel for a few innings--thankfully, it didn't stay that way. Need to figure out how to log on at Miller Park, if I can, though I doubt the camera will get much use, considering that we're usually sitting in the Terrace Level. Club Level, last game, but that's not so big a difference, at least to my eyes. Man, the prices nowadays sure make me appreciate the games I was able to attend as a kid at County Stadium--I could walk down by the dugout and try for autographs, pregame...
Between the multiple BP C'Mon Back Club cards I and my mom filled over the summer, and a Time Warner Cable BOGOF offer bill slip, Wingstun and I have pairs of tickets to four games in September. That's more damn games than we've attended in whole seasons past. Naturally, she's looking way forward to it. Just hope she's granted the requested time off.
Two of the games are on consecutive days. Been giving serious thought to simply staying at a hotel after the first game and perhaps yomping around Milwaukee the day after before attending the second. Wingstun can probably use a mini-vacation...as it is, she's been bugging me about going to Slagacon in October. Apparently, two TF-themed cons aren't enough for her anymore...
Probably going back to Fox Cities Stadium tomorrow. Carlos Gomez is there for the second of a four-game rehabilitation stint, and there are postgame autographs by the team on Sundays, so if Go-Go is gonna be part of that, it's worth a shot.
Worth the $10-$15 for parking and the ticket, too.

Good Motivation to Murder the Grass
So, our lawn was getting a little shaggy and Prime wondered, after returning my phone call to him at work to commiserate about the loss the Brewers had just suffered at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates, if I could mow it during this decently nice day...you know, before the weather decides to turn to 'I DRENCH YOU NOW' again. Now, I really don't mind killing the patch of greenery in our yard, but it is a bit labor-intensive. So I was about to strike a deal with my sweetie-bot and tell him, sure I'd do it, if I could be promised one of these.
I know what you're going to ask--what the slag is that thing? Simply put, it's a plush Pokemon keychain. Not just any Pokémon, either. It's a Golurk keychain.
Instant want. Golurk is only one of my favorite Pokémon. The other being its base form, Golett. Those two are hands down, my favorites. I love 'em more than any Pokémon from previous genrations. The words "utter adoration" might actually fit in this case. Seriously, golem + robot = instant epic win.
So, as I tell Prime that I'll do it for the keychain, he tells me that there's a small box near the desk that I should look inside. Curiosity gets the better of me and I do.
What stares back at me? A little plush Golurk. Yep, Prime had gotten me the keychain, along with a Golurk figure. I have no idea when he did it, but he did it.
Pity my poor front lawn, as it had no idea what hit it. I have never mowed with such extreme prejudice before. Seems I owed Prime that much, at least. That and I'll do slag near anything for my favorite Pokémon.
...within reason of course. (Stop getting ideas, Prime. I forbid you from milking this!)

The Rescue
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. 10:15PM
The Pokemon stared out at me, its yellow-green eyes empty. How long had it been stuck on the GTS was a mystery, but it had probably been there a while or worse, it had been passed about as a bartering tool. It was a shiny Golett; demand for something that rare never really dies down. Offering up a shiny Pokemon is a guarantee that you will receive whatever you want. My heart in my throat, I checked what the Trainer was asking for in return. A moment later, I felt my heart sink: the tariff was a level 100 Rayquaza.
I pursed my lips. That was doable, but not on my copy of Black. My Rayquaza was only at level 70. It would take days to get it up to 100 and by then the Golett would be gone. Of course, I could level one up on Emerald and send it over, but it hadn't been 24 hours since I had transferred Pokemon from Emerald to Pearl, making a Pal Park transfer impossible. I sighed, shook my head and resigned everything to fate: I already had two shinies. This one would have to remain just outside of my grasp.
Only I couldn't simply leave it be. I pride myself as a Golett rescuer; I take in the Goletts that no one else wants. I've leveled up a Snivy to 50 just to grab a Golett that had languished on the GTS for three days, chain traded for Legendaries to buy a few little ones their freedom and parted with some Mystery Mews to grab some newly hatched Goletts. If it's doable, I will do it, just to get that Golett.
I can't help myself. I think that they are adorable.
With a sigh, I began looking for level 100 Rayquazas. What most asked for in return were hack jobs: they wanted level 9 and under Legendaries, making those trades impossible. I thought I was sunk until I came across an Ace Trainer in Japan who wanted something reasonable--a Zekrom.
That was definitely doable, as I had an extra. So I began the trade. Imagine my irritation when the screens on my DS went blue and I received this message:
Communication error.
Please turn off the power.
Swearing under my breath, I turned off the power to my DS, then switched it back on. If the Fates were kind and Primus was with me, the Rayquaza would still be there. I just had to find it. Two minutes later, I was back on the GTS, the Zekrom in my party, searching for the elusive Rayquaza.
I found it in about 10 seconds. Within a few moments, the Rayquaza was mine.
My heart was pounding as I began to search for the shiny Golett. For all I knew, the trade could have been for naught: someone else could have beaten me to it. But thankfully, it was still there, waiting. Without a second's hesitation, I hit "Trade".
Another Golett made its way into my possession. When it arrived in my party, I smiled and said softly, "Welcome home, little guy."
To a competitive battler, this Golett would be skippable: its Nature is Sassy, which won't raise Attack and its Ability is Klutz, meaning it can't use any held items. The only thing it had going for it was the fact that it was shiny. To most players, this little one was a bargaining chip or a novelty, nothing more.
But not to me.
It doesn't matter to me that its Nature isn't great or its Ability isn't what I'd like. Hell, it doesn't even matter to me that its shiny! It's a Golett. That's all that really matters in the end. And now, it has a home.
That Golett will never see the inside of the GTS again, not unless he's in my party while I'm on another "rescue mission". No matter what, he'll stay with me. All of my rescued Goletts will. They've been given sanctuary because that's just what a rescuer does. It's what I do and I do it well.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to hit the GTS. Pokemon to trade, Goletts to rescue... a Rescuer's work is never done.

End of an Era
So I've been playing around on one of my online games lately and managed to complete one of the monthly explorations. In this little scenario, you had the chance to go on a mission and nab the egg of a member of one of the Legendary trios. This time around, the two different explorations had you choose between the Beasts of Johto or the Golems of Hoenn.
I picked the Golems of Hoenn, since they weren't getting a lot of love. I don't understand why; they're pretty frelling awesome and they have the most epic battle music ever. My final egg choice was Registeel. Registeel, hands down, is my favorite of the Golems. Why? Just look at it. The thing's basically a friggin' robot. It even sounds like one to boot; when you catch it, its cry sounds like a slightly shortened transformation noise. Not kidding.
Autobots, roll out. Or something.
Once I had completed all the necessary steps to end the exploration and get my egg, I couldn't help feeling a little nostalgic. I had my own Regi trio on my old copy of Ruby, but hadn't sent them over to Emerald and had never migrated them to my copy of Pearl or Platinum. I kinda missed them.
So when Prime came home, I dashed upstairs to grab my old copy of Pokemon Ruby and trade my Regi trio over to Emerald. But when I turned on my GBA SP and had gone past the title screen for my Ruby, a message popped up on the screen:
The internal battery has run dry. The game can be played. However, clock-based events will no longer occur.
My heart broke a little. No more growing berries on my Ruby cart and no more free TMs, either.
Now, the internal battery can be replaced if you really feel the need to pester the old men in Pacifidlog Town regarding a free TM or Mirage Island. But since I don't feel the need to do either one, there really is no point in opening up my game cart to screw around with the battery.
It is a little depressing, though. Although the game itself runs on flash memory, just how long will that last before I lose any data? How long will my safe file, along with all of my Pokemon, last before I get an error message or simply get the New Game option?
It was a sobering thought. So sobering, in fact that I started moving a few of my Pokemon from Ruby to Emerald. I have yet to send over my old Rayquaza, but a few others are "safe". Among them are a pair of Registeels--one from Ruby and the other from Emerald.
They're now on my copy of Pearl and will soon be transferred to Black. But not before they get a Sinnoh League ribbon, of course. They deserve that honor.
There have been rumors and speculation for the last two years that Game Freak would do a pair of Ruby and Sapphire remakes. The newer DS systems don't have the backwards compatibility that the older ones do so it's impossible for some players to trade over Gen III Pokemon. I'm lucky--I still have two functional DS fats and a brand new, never opened DS Lite. I can trade with Ruby Sapphire and Emerald. But many others can't.
A remake looks pretty good right now. It's coming up on ten years(!) since the Hoenn saga was first released and plenty of those games are suffering from dead internal batteries, not to mention the lack of backwards compatibility. It's about time to bring Hoenn over to the DS. I'll be ready and waiting until then.

Random Thoughts
Just because I need to put something of freaking substance here, we'll do another quick installment of:
* I've earned my eighth badge in Pokemon Black and could challenge the Elite 4 at any given time... but I haven't. Or rather, I really don't want to yet. Once I whip the Elite 4, that pretty much ends the blasted story. If that's not depressing enough, I'll actually start running into some of the previous 493 in Unova and I love the new guys too much!
* We haven't had a decent spring around here. Period. It's either too damn cold, raining, or freaking snowing. Bob Uecker put it best: Summertime in Wisconsin. It'll get here eventually.
* The Brewers are in a slump. I could cry. Or scream. Or rage. Or all of the above. But it's only May; there's more than enough time to turn this around.
* Prime and I will be heading to see Thor tomorrow. I expect much in the way of awesomeness.
* Speaking of awesomeness, I have seen the trailer to Transformers: Dark of the Moon and. It. Was. AWESOME! Now all I have to do is wait until July... and we all know how much I just love waiting.
* And even more awesome: We have Transformers themed Baby Bottle Pops at my store. And they feature Bumblebee. Seeing as how I had a horrible couple of days earlier in the week, the timing is... well, I keep saying the little bastard's my guardian angel. And he just keeps proving it.
And that about wraps it up. Tune in next time when we clear out even more of the dust between the wrinkles of my brain. Until then this has been

Just What the Professor Ordered
On March 7th, I was able to get my grubby hands on Pokémon Black.
Let me just say this: this has been a welcome distraction. I've needed this.
For the past several weeks, I've had the damnedest time trying to write. I'm serious: I know what I want to say, I know how I want to say it, but the words cannot come from my pen. I've only been able to get out a page and a half at most. For me, that's a huge fucking drought.
A few days ago, I started writing another piece, but before I did, I messed around with my copy of Black. After putting that away, I decided to write two pages, front to back. I only had forty-five minutes before I clocked in for the day. That was doable.
I wrote four. I couldn't stop. And I've been quickly filling in a sixth. You have no idea how good that feels.
In case you're wondering, this is easily the best Pokémon game to date. The newest additions to the franchise are incredible and I'm using Pokémon that I never thought I would ever have in my party. (A Rock type? A pure Fighting type? Never used them before, but I am totally in love with my Roggenrola and my Sawk. These guys kick more ass than should be allowed by law.) Never gotten into the series? Now's a really good time to start. But don't mind me; I'm just plugging the game, is all. :)

...it's twenty plus days too damn long, is what...
As you may (or may not) know, two new Pokemon games will be hitting the shelves in March.
It goes without saying that I am chomping at the bit to lay hands on a copy of Black. I am absolutely going crazy here with this wait.
Now, with every generation of Pokemon, I've played favorites. There's always been at least one that has caught my eye and made me, for whatever reason, fall in love with it. It may be because it's cute, or I think it looks really cool or whatever. In any case, I know I have to have this little twerp on my team, no matter what.
In Generation one it was Eevee and Mew. In the Second gen, I went more for power and fell in love with Lugia. In the Third gen I fell hard for Latias and Latios. Fourth gen brought me the awesome known as Palkia. Fifth gen has shown that it is no exception. The games haven't even dropped yet and I'm already in love with a couple of new Pokemon. Only this time, I'm not going crazy for a some random Legendary.
Sure, I adore Reshiram, but it's these guys who have captured my attention. What Pokemon have me frothing at the mouth, waiting eagerly for this game's arrival? They are Gobitto and Goruugu.
Gobitto is just freaking adorable; I mean, all I want to do is cuddle the little bugger and coo over how cute it is. But Goruugu, oh man, Goruugu... can we say "giant honkin' robot"? Yes, we can! And we all know just how much I love me some giant honkin' robots. Seeing this kind of awesome only makes the wait so much worse.
I've got until March the freaking sixth. Honestly, I don't think I can wait that long. I'm going nuts already.

Let the Frenzy Begin!
Unless you've been living under a rock (or don't like the franchise), there are two new Pokémon games coming out this fall in Japan. The States should get them in the spring of 2011. They're Pokémon White and Pokémon Black, respectively. Yesterday, some new info surfaced about the games.
Oh yeah, I'm excited as hell. And I've already started falling in love with the legendary mascot for Black: Reshiram. I'm feeling the same odd tug that I felt when I first saw Palkia. Prime can have Zekrom, I'll happily take Reshi. (I've already picked a name and it's an original one.)
--Weasel, "When do the preorders start?"

Well, That's Pretty Darned Sudden...
According to Pokemon.com, Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver will be hitting the US in the spring of 2010. Looks like I'll be shiny Lugia hunting during next year's BotCon, if I'm lucky.
I seriously gotta get hot on shiny breeding/catching in Platinum. Or I will not be ready for SoulSilver.
--Weasel, "Damn, that was freaking fast...."

Holy. Crap.
So for the helluva it, I decided to ask for a Mew over GTS last night. I sent out a male Yanma holding a Custap berry and asked for a Mew at level 10 or higher. After 15 minutes, I checked my progress. Nothing. I waited another 10 minutes and tried again.
A Pokéball falling from the sky greeted me. I had just received a Japanese Mew.
I checked its summary and the ID number caught me by surprise: 50716. The number looked familiar. But since Prime was on the PC, I couldn't check on it. So I did it today.
Looks like I got me a Hadou Mew. I got an event Pokémon.
This is gonna be one spoiled rotten Mew.

The Random Thoughts.... They Never Stop!
Trying to get back into the groove here, so here goes.
It's Random Thought time once again!
* Trying to get back to "The Real World" after BotCon blows. Chunks.
*We've hired a shitload of new cashiers at my store. I have no idea how long any of them will last.
* Been trying to catch both Rotom and Uxie on my Pearl game, but I've had little success. See, I want them shiny, which means an assload of soft resetting until they pop up in shiny colors. It is slowing driving me insane, but not as insane as I'll be trying to track down Mesprit and Cresselia, as they like to run.
* Had a "Nerd's Night Out" with Prime and a couple of my friends about two weeks ago. It was great fun. I hope to do it again sometime.
* I hope to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull this Thursday. I can hardly wait.
* I still suck (more or less) at chaining. Today's a Beldum swarm. Considering their location, I don't even know if I'll try for them.
* Still trying to get back into my "pack a year ahead of schedule" habit. Most of my BotCon laundry is done, I just have a few things I need to wash and let dry, then pack. Yes, I am a geek without a life.
* I hope to get a few of my videos off my SD cards and upload them here, so my readership can have a good long laugh at my lack of a life.
And that's about it. I'll be back next time with even more brain droppings for you to peruse. (Nice image, I know.)
Until then, this is:
